Surprise! In collaboration with London Music Works and Silva Screen Records, we’ve released a brand new album of my original arrangements of classic themes from The Legend of Zelda game series!
You can listen to the album on most platforms, including the following:
Late last year, I was approached with the idea of creating a collection of arrangements from the series, with the aim of making new arrangements of themes from games across the entire series, with a cohesive orchestral sound. I jumped the chance!
‘Music from The Legend of Zelda’ is my love letter to the series, and the wonderful game composers who contributed music to the series, including Koji Kondo, Hajime Wakai, Akita Nakatsuka, Mitsuhiko Takano, Ryo Nagamatsu and more! I’ve filled these pieces with as much love, warmth and nostalgia that I could muster.
The album is mostly programmed samples, but feature a few solo recordings of flute, clarinet and trumpet, and the final mix and master was by Rick Clark (Silva Screen Records).
Some of my personal favourites include:
- ‘Minish Village’ (from ‘The Minish Cap’) – which turned the original phat jam into a sort of jazzy 70’s love theme
- ‘Skyloft’ (from ‘Skyward Sword’) – with such lovely starting material to work with from Hajime Wakai, this turned into something really emotional and warm, reminding me of something a little bit Disney, or Studio Ghibli.
- ‘Palace Theme’ (From ‘The Legend of Zelda 2’) – Akito Nakatsuka’s amazing theme gets an almost James Bond-esque makeover! 😀
I hope you enjoy the album as much as I enjoyed creating it! 😀
